FAQs for Trunks

40+ local businesses and organizations attended Newburyport Trunk or Treat last year and this year will be even bigger and better!  Curious about hosting a 2018 trunk? Here are some FAQs:

Does my trunk theme have to match my business/organization?
Nope – any kind of Halloween decor works provided it isn’t too scary for the little kids. Just remember to bring signage or a board displaying your business or organization’s name and/or logo!

How much space will my trunk have?
Plan on having about 2 regular-size parking spaces for your trunk. You are welcome to set up a small table or activity outside your trunk.

What kind of treats should I give out?
Candy is obvious, but you might also consider some other non-food/non-allergy items. Some trunks are giving out stickers and stamps, etc., instead of or in addition to candy options. If you are offering both candy and non-candy options please package them separately.

How much candy/treats do I need?
Plan on enough pieces for at least 750 kids, and enough promotional materials for 300 families.

Can I hand out promotional materials to parents?
Yes, just remember to keep the items small and easy to carry around. You may also run a raffle or other contest at your trunk to capture email addresses, just be aware that other trunks may be doing the same. Keep it simple!

*There is also an option to have us distribute your marketing materials in a goody bag (we will need to receive everything in advance of the event).

Can I choose my trunk parking spot at the event?
A parking attendant will assign parking spots on a first-come, first served basis, and there are no “bad” spots! If you and a friend would like to park your trunks next to each other, your best bet is to caravan into the venue to ensure that you’ll arrive together.

How does the voting work for Best Trunk (6-month ad campaign,$800 value)?
Upon check-in, each trunk will be given a numbered (removable) pumpkin decal to be displayed prominently on the vehicle. Families will be given a voting card where they will indicate their favorite trunk by number. Each completed voting card is also an entry for a raffle prize to encourage families to return their cards upon exit.

I would like to network with the other vendors, will there be a time to do so?
Allow yourself some time before the event, grab some of your business cards and walk around and meet everyone. You may even see someone you have been meaning to connect with!
